Termind — a terminal-style reminders, notes and birthdays app
Version 2 · Last updated September 29, 2026Termind is developed by NSY Studio ("we", "us"), the controller of the personal data described here (contact details at the end). This policy explains what the app stores, what leaves your device, who receives it and how you can delete it. In short: the app works fully offline without an account; data leaves your device only if you create an account, and your reminders, notes and birthdays are uploaded only if you also subscribe to Termind PRO. There is no advertising and no usage analytics; crash reports are the only diagnostics.
We send no marketing email. The only email you get from Termind's services is what you ask for: a password reset from Firebase, and our replies when you write to us.
Everything you create is kept in the app's private storage on your device, for everyone including guests who never sign in:
A phone number is used only to add a Call and an SMS button to that person's birthday notification. Those buttons open your dialer or messaging app with the number filled in; Termind does not place calls or send messages itself.
Android's automatic cloud backup and device-to-device transfer are switched off for this app, so this data does not travel through them. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes it.
You can use Termind as a guest, or sign up with an email address and password, or with your Google account. Signing in is handled by Firebase Authentication, a Google service. It receives your email address and, for Google sign-in, your Google account identifier, name and profile picture URL. Passwords are handled by Firebase and are never visible to us.
For every signed-in user, including those on the free plan, we keep one profile record in Cloud Firestore (also Google): your user ID, email address, display name, profile picture URL, sign-in method, subscription details (see below) and when the record was created and last changed. When you sign up you confirm that you are at least 16 years old and agree to the terms; that confirmation and its date are remembered on your device only. You can change your display name with /user set-name.
The Termind web app runs in your browser at the address of this page. It keeps your reminders, notes and birthdays in your browser's storage (IndexedDB) on your device, and your settings, your guest name, and whether you confirmed your age in localStorage. Clearing the site's data in your browser deletes them. This storage is what the app needs to work, so it does not ask for consent; it sets no advertising or tracking cookies.
To protect sign-in and sync from abuse, the web app uses Firebase App Check with Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise, and Google Sign-In loads scripts from Google. These run in your browser and send Google your IP address and browser and device details, under Google's privacy policy. If you allow it, the web app can show reminders as system notifications while a Termind tab is open; the permission is asked for in your browser and can be withdrawn there.
If you are signed in with an active PRO subscription, the app uploads your reminders, notes, birthdays, groups and settings to Cloud Firestore, under your user ID, so that they appear on your other devices. This happens when you sign in, on a schedule in the background, and when you run /sync.
Data travels over an encrypted connection and Google encrypts it at rest. Firestore security rules allow only your own account to read or write it. The text of your items is stored base64-encoded, which only keeps it from being readable at a glance: it is not end-to-end encrypted, and the developer and Google, as the hosting provider, could technically read it. We do not look at it except when you ask us for help or the law requires it.
Without PRO, your reminders, notes and birthdays are never uploaded.
If you save details of other people, such as a friend's birthday or phone number, you are responsible for having a reason to keep them. We handle them only to store them and give them back to you.
PRO is bought through Google Play Billing. Google handles the payment; we never see your card or payment details. When you buy PRO, the app sends the purchase token to our server (a Firebase Cloud Function), which checks with Google that it is your purchase and that no other account has claimed it. The token is kept in a private area of our database that no app can read, and is deleted when you delete your account. Your profile record stores the product, when the subscription expires, whether it renews automatically, its state (for example active, cancelled or on hold) and when it was last checked. Google also tells our server when a subscription renews, is cancelled or is refunded, and if you have or had a subscription the app asks the server to check it again when it starts and once a day. This check is the only automated decision we make about you: whether your purchase unlocks PRO. Manage or cancel the subscription in Google Play, under Payments & subscriptions.
For all users, including guests, the app uses two more Firebase services:
These cannot be turned off inside the app. We use them to keep the app working and secure, which is our legitimate interest. Sign-in with Google and Google Play Billing are provided by Google Play services and follow Google's own privacy policy.
Where the GDPR or a similar law applies, these are our legal bases:
You are not required to give us any personal data to use the app: without an account, nothing beyond the diagnostics above leaves your device. Without an account there is no sync and no PRO.
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Notifications | Showing reminders and birthday alerts |
| Alarms and reminders (exact alarms) | Firing a reminder at the exact time you set |
| Full-screen notifications | Showing a reminder alert over the lock screen |
| Do Not Disturb access | Letting a reminder that you marked to bypass Do Not Disturb be shown. The app does not read your notifications |
| Run at startup | Scheduling your reminders again after the phone restarts |
| Internet and network state | Signing in, sync, crash reports and configuration |
Some libraries add technical permissions of their own: keeping the device awake for a moment while background work finishes, the Google Play billing permission, and biometric permissions that the app does not use.
Only Google LLC and its affiliates, as our service provider, for Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Crashlytics, Remote Config, Firebase Hosting (this page), Firebase App Check with reCAPTCHA Enterprise (web app), Google Sign-In, Google Play Billing and the Google Play Developer API. Your profile and, for PRO, your synced items are stored in Cloud Firestore in Europe. Cloud Functions, which check purchases, run in the United States (Iowa). Google may also process data in other countries, using safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. We share data with no one else, except where the law requires it.
Data on your device stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Your profile record and any synced data stay until you delete your account: they are not deleted automatically when a subscription ends, and stay in the cloud, unchanged, until you delete them or your account. Crash reports are removed automatically by Google after their retention period.
Logging out signs you out and clears your profile, your settings and the recalled commands from this device; your reminders, notes and birthdays stay on the device and remain in the cloud.
In the app: sign in and run /user delete, then confirm. This deletes your synced reminders, notes, birthdays, groups and settings and your profile record from the cloud, deletes your sign-in (which also removes the private record of your purchase token), and empties the app's data on that device. If Firebase asks for a recent sign-in, the cloud data is already gone; sign in again and repeat /user delete to finish. Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription, so cancel it in Google Play as well.
Without the app: if you can no longer open the app, email feedback.cray@gmail.com from the address of your account with the subject "Delete my Termind account". We will delete your account and its data within 30 days and confirm by email.
Guests have no account: uninstall the app or clear its storage to delete everything.
The full steps, what is deleted and what is kept are on the account deletion page.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete and export your data, to object to or restrict its processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority. Editing or deleting an item in the app, /user change and /user delete cover correction and deletion. For a copy of your data, or any other request, email feedback.cray@gmail.com from the address of your account. We may ask you to confirm that the account is yours, we answer within one month, and we send a copy in a common file format. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
You can complain to the data protection authority of the country where you live or work.
Data travels over encrypted connections, Google encrypts it at rest, and Firestore security rules limit each account to its own data. The purchase token record can be read by no app at all. If a data breach puts your rights at risk, we will tell you and the data protection authority as the law requires.
Termind is not directed at children, and creating an account requires you to confirm that you are at least 16 years old. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
When this policy changes, we publish the new version at this address and update the version above. If a change is material, we also say so in the release notes of the app update.
